Mission 2 - Dark Secret

Part 1 - Village

Kessler will direct you to the tavern entrance. Go up the stairs. There are two guards in the tavern. Wait in the tavern for two or three more soldiers to enter; it's safer than going outside. Be careful of the civilian lady. Go out the door and enter the door next to it. Go up the stairs to the second floor of the tavern. There is a guard in the hall. Go to the end of the two halls into a small room with a guard. A large number of soldiers will soon storm the tavern, but there is a machine gun in this room you can use. Go back down the hall. There are grenades and food in the room to your left.

Go outside and start through the village, going straight from the tavern, then under an arch and to the right. You will come to a guard under a watchtower, a guard in the watchtower, and two guards in a narrow lane near the watchtower. If you kill all four, a man from the underground will come out of a house in the narrow lane and invite you in. Go in and get some supplies and a silenced machine gun. Be sure to also go up into the watchtower and get some mauser ammunition.

From the narrow lane go to a bridge on the left. Jump off the bridge and go under it through the icy water by crouching. You will be in front of a building. Go inside and there will be a civilian lady and some food. As you face the building outside, go to the right through a metalwork door. Keep going and you will hear two soldiers talking in a walled-in area. They're talking about a crazy old witch and raising the dead. Just past the walled-in area is a building with two more soldiers. There are resources and a secret in this building.

Go back to the building with the civilian lady, and go to the left. Go down a stairway. There are one or two guards. Follow the path around and climb up a narrow ladder just around the corner to the left. Enter the windows of the two buildings and get resources; watch out for one or two guards. Go back up the stairs to the building with the civilian lady. Go left again. Instead of going straight and down the stairs, go to the left to an iron fence with big concrete posts. There are three guards. Follow the walk until you see a building and a door on the right. Go straight a little further and go down the stairs. There is a door on the right with health and ammo.

Go back up the stairs and into the building you just passed. Go down the stairs. Two soldiers are talking in a room on the right, about sealing men in a crypt, and another one is upstairs. Go out the back door of this building and turn left. Go toward the cemetery.

Exit--There are four guards in the cemetery, one with a mauser. The exit is at the front of the crypt. Kick the stone barrier several times until it breaks. Be sure to go to the back of the crypt--there's dynamite!

Secrets: 2

1. Exit the tavern and cross the village. Go to the right (the tavern is behind you) where the two guards are talking about a crazy old witch and raising the dead. Inside the building they are guarding is a bookshelf. One of the books sticks out at an angle--touch it and a secret door in the floor will open to a room with health.

2. Go to the building with the back exit that leads to the cemetery. In front of this building are two large posts and a stairway. Stand on the post farthest from the building. You will see a small balcony, just big enough to hold you, with a black railing. Jump onto the balcony and you will find some health.

Part 2 - Catacombs

Go down the stairs and turn right to where you will see a hole in the floor. There is a lot of shooting going on underneath! To save ammo, let the soldiers and zombies kill each other.

Something to remember about zombies is that the ghosts they give off are harmful and will cost you health. Back away from them when they do this.

When it gets quiet, jump down through the hole. Go through the doorway and turn right; watch out for more zombie knights. To your left is a doorway blocked by bars. Continue to the stairs and turn left at the bottom. Follow the passageway around to the end. There is a hole to your right --with spikes, so don't jump in-- and a plaque with faded writing on the wall on the left. Touch the plaque and jump across the hole. Kick in the barrier and enter. Pull the lever on the left and exit the same way. There's a lever where the plaque was. Pull it and jump into the hole (the spikes in the hole have now retracted). Watch for four zombies and a zombie knight. Go through the passage, pull the lever at the end by the door, and go up the stairs.

You are back where you started. The bars you passed before are now open. Go through and jump to the level below. There are two zombies and two zombie knights. Go through the large room with pillars to a narrow hall; turn left. There are two soldiers in the room ahead. Go into the room. Kick in the arched areas in the wall on the left. Two zombies and two zombie knights will come. Also in this room, opposite the doorway is a table with health and a journal. You must take the journal to complete your mission.

On the right is an area with health and grenades. Go thorugh one of the arched areas on the left and climb up the dirt pile. Enter the upper level. There are more zombies and zombie knights. Follow the long hall and go to the right, where there is ammo on the floor. You'll hear shooting. Enter the room the shooting is coming from. The soldiers will leave, but zombies and a fire zombie are in the room (the fire zombie comes out of the fire). Grenades work best on the fire zombie. When you entered this room you were locked in, but you can open the doors with a lever located at the end of the room opposite the fire. It's in one of the four depressions in the wall.

Exit--The exit is a door in the wall near the fire. It has a sundial design. It opens after you kill all the zombies.

Secrets - 1

When you climb up the dirt pile to get into the upper level, you are in a small room with a lit lamp on the floor. Go out of that small room, down a few stairs, and back up a few stairs and right into another small room. This second small room has 2 zombies. There are two health packs. On the far wall to the right is a stone that sticks out. Push it in and a door opens. But the door is elsewhere. To get to this door, go back out of the room and into the long hall to your right. There is another hall that crosses this one. On the right it's broken--it's the hall that broke when you jumped into this lower level. On the left, after a few steps, there is a red door. This door should be open, and the small room behind it has treasure. After you push the stone in, you have to hurry to get to this red door before it closes!

Part 3 - Crypt

Proceed carefully through the hall and room with pillars. Just before the stairs you'll see some bars on your right, and a wall with an eye design facing you. Turn left and go up the stairs. Go down two halls carefully--soldiers and fire zombies are fighting. Blow up the fire zombies (you can use your dynamite or save it and use grenades) and enter the area with the large cross. On the wall opposite the large cross there is a large buttom you push. Three tough zombies will come out of coffins. Go back down the stairs and enter the area that was boarded up before by the wall with the eye design.

Go down the stairs into a large room with mist covering the floor. Four zombies will come up. Go through a door at the other end of the room and through a narrow hallway. You are in a room with pillars and three adjoining rooms. There is a large dark pillar in the center of the room. This is the elevator. You will need to activate the elevator to get to the next level up.

To do this, go into the room on your right as you entered. Push the lever. Do not step on any of the light-colored squares on the floor. Go into the room on the left. Jump over the hole and push the lever. Leave the room quickly before you're crushed by stones, but don't fall into the hole (it has spikes). Go into the last room, the one straight ahead. When you enter, a huge swinging door with spikes will be activated. Go in and push the lever. Time your entrance and exit to avoid the door. Now the elevator will lower and you can get on it. Ride it to the top and enter the upper level.

There is a lever straight ahead. Push it and a door opposite the lever--on the other side of the room--will open. Two zombies will also be released.

Go into the door that opened. You're in a room with arches and pillars, cherub faces on the walls, and smoke stains on the floor. Go to the altar at the opposite end of the room. Take the chalice from the altar, but watch out for spikes that leap up out of the altar. This will release two zombie knights.

Exit--When you get rid of the zombie knights, the floor of the room will crack and you can jump into a lower area. There are two doors, one at either end. One of them is the exit.

Secrets: 2

1. Where the fire zombies and the soldiers fight, there is a large cross. Knock it over, but be sure not to stand in front of it--kick it from the side. It will make a hole in the floor, which you jump through to get to a secret with health and ammo. You can see the secret area behind some bars from the foot of the stairs.

Part 4 - The Defiled Church

Jump down into the church. There are three soldiers and an elite guard; also a large coffin and part of a body. Past this is a door. Go through it and into the next room. Near some large boxes is a stairway. Two elite guards are at the top of the stairway. Go up and you'll see bars and a lever on the right; pull the lever to open the bars. Continue up the stairs, and pull the lever you see to open the next set of bars. Go through the door to enter the main area of the church. There will be a carpet with a red diamond pattern in the center, and a raised area with an altar at the far end. There are five elite guards there, so be careful. Go to the far end with the altar. To the left as you face the altar there is a small room with a ladder. There are two more elite guards in this area. Climb up the lader and go out the door into the hallway. Proceed through the next two hallways until you come to the top of the spiral staircase. (Watch for more elite guards). Go down the spiral staircase, where there are more elite guards (grenades work well here). Continue through the archway, until you come to bars on your left. Pull the lever to open the bars and go to the door on the right. There are five elite guards behind the door. Try to lure them into the small hall just outside the door, and ambush them there. When you can, go into the room.

Exit--There is a door at the far end of the room, with a barrier in front of it. Kick in the barrier and go through the door to exit.

Secrets: 1

On the upper level of the main area of the church there are two hallways, one on each side of the large area with the alter and the carpet. You climb the ladder to the first one to fight the women. Between the two hallways is a wooden platform with a wooden railing. Stand on the railing and jump to the second hallway. At the end there is a door to a secret room.

Part 4 - The Defiled Church

Helga has somehow managed to turn herself into a huge furry beast. Or maybe the beast ate her. Anyway, you have to get rid of the beast in the churchyard. After you fall into the underground area, collect resources and climb up the dirt pile into the churchyard. Seven zombies will pop out of their graves and Helga will come across the churchyard. You can shoot the zombies, but you need explosives for Helga. You can use your dynamite if you saved it, or just use grenades. Important--green ghosts come out of Helga. Do not look at them, or you will go blind and then die. When they start to howl, run back down into the underground area until they stop.

Exit--When Helga and the zombies are gone, go to the graves farthest from the dirt pile, and turn right. Go into a sort of little temple, and approach the altar with candles and the dagger on it. This is the exit.
